Natural Hazards

Integrated risk management, hazard assessment, zoning and protection works.

01

Hazard Assessment and Zoning

We identify credible scenarios, quantify their intensity and probability, and assess the exposure and vulnerability of the affected people, structures and infrastructure. The resulting hazard or risk assessment provides a transparent basis for zoning, emergency planning, prioritisation of measures and cost-benefit decisions. Residual risks and uncertainties are stated explicitly. Depending on the assignment, the work may use or refer to UFAM.

02

Risk Analysis (PLANAT RIKO) and Strategies

We identify credible scenarios, quantify their intensity and probability, and assess the exposure and vulnerability of the affected people, structures and infrastructure. The resulting hazard or risk assessment provides a transparent basis for zoning, emergency planning, prioritisation of measures and cost-benefit decisions. Residual risks and uncertainties are stated explicitly. Depending on the assignment, the work may use or refer to PLANAT RIKO.

03

Protection and Stabilisation Works

This service combines field expertise, engineering analysis and clear technical documentation. For natural hazards, GEOALPS defines the relevant questions, selects proportionate methods and converts the results into practical recommendations. The work is coordinated with clients, authorities and other designers from the initial assessment through implementation. Depending on the assignment, the work may use or refer to SIA 199.

04

Emergency Plans, Monitoring and First-Responder Support

We define the parameters, instruments, measurement intervals and data workflows needed for effective natural hazards. Measurements are checked, visualised and compared with project-specific alarm thresholds. Where required, automated notifications and a 24/7 on-call procedure provide rapid escalation and a documented basis for operational decisions.
