Hazard Assessment

Identification, intensity assessment and zoning of natural processes.

01

Hazard-Process Surveying and Intensity Analysis

This service combines field expertise, engineering analysis and clear technical documentation. For hazard assessment, GEOALPS defines the relevant questions, selects proportionate methods and converts the results into practical recommendations. The work is coordinated with clients, authorities and other designers from the initial assessment through implementation. Depending on the assignment, the work may use or refer to DTM, MDT.

02

Numerical Modelling and Stability Analyses

We develop numerical and analytical models tailored to the specific questions of hazard assessment. The model is calibrated against field data, used to test relevant scenarios and subjected to sensitivity checks. The outputs support safety verification, comparison of alternatives and the transparent definition of design values and residual risks. Depending on the assignment, the work may use or refer to RocFall, Slide2, RS2.

03

Hazard Zoning and Official Mapping

We identify credible scenarios, quantify their intensity and probability, and assess the exposure and vulnerability of the affected people, structures and infrastructure. The resulting hazard or risk assessment provides a transparent basis for zoning, emergency planning, prioritisation of measures and cost-benefit decisions. Residual risks and uncertainties are stated explicitly. Depending on the assignment, the work may use or refer to UFAM.

04

Expert Assessment and Administrative Support

We prepare independent technical assessments based on documented observations, calculations and applicable Swiss requirements. The conclusions are written so that clients, authorities, designers and legal advisers can understand the technical reasoning and its limitations. We can also support negotiations, administrative procedures, disputes and the implementation of agreed measures.
